Bio

Born in Toronto, Ron Davies attended the University of Toronto Schools and later the University of Toronto where he acted and stage managed at Hart House Theatre. He learned his stagecraft working for five years as a stage manager with many of Canada’s leading directors and actors for theatre companies in Toronto, including Theatre Plus, Toronto Arts Productions (forerunner of Canadian Stage), Hart House and the Phoenix Theatre (Dupont Street), as well as the Stratford Festival. For Theatre Ontario, he wrote a community theatre guide “Stage Management without Tears.”

Subsequently he lived for an extended period in Europe, where his work for international organizations with people from different cultures and in more than 20 countries helped inform his understanding of human strengths and frailties and the way we use language to conceal as well as reveal. In 2016 he returned to Ottawa. His plays, which have won various awards in Canadian and international competitions, have been given professional workshops and staged readings as well as staged and audio productions.

Ron is a British as well as a Canadian citizen. He speaks French and Portuguese.
